Elf Baby Bootees
Materials: Worsted Weight Yarn 
Small Amounts of Red and Green
Small Amounts of Red and Green
Crochet Hook Size G/6 or 4.50 mm
Tapestry Needle
1 ½” x 5” piece of cardboard for pom pom
Size Newborn to 3 Months
Note: Join rnds with a sl st unless otherwise stated.
Bootie: (make 2):
Rnd 1: Beg at tip of toe, with red, leaving a 6” end, ch 4, 5 dc in 4th ch from hook,
join with sl st in 4th ch of beg ch-4. (6 dc, counting last 3 chs of beg ch-4 as first dc).
Rnds 2 and 3: Ch 3 (counts as first dc throughout), dc in each rem dc around, join in
3rd of beg ch-3 (6 dc).
Rnd 4: Ch 3, dc in same st as joining, 2 dc in each rem dc around, join in 3rd ch of
beg ch-3. (12 dc).
Rnd 5 and 6: Rep rnds 2 and 3. (12 dc).
Rnd 7: Ch 3, 2 dc in next dc, [dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc] rep around, join in 3rd ch
of beg ch-3. (18 dc).
Rows 8 to 11: Ch 3, dc in each of next 17 dc, do not join; turn. (18 dc).
Row 12: (RS): Ch 3, dc in each of next 4 dc, [dc dec] 4 times, dc in each of next 5 dc,
fasten off, leaving end for sewing.
RS tog, fold last row in half. With tapestry needle, sew tops of sts of last row tog for
back seam. Turn RS out.
Cuff:
Rnd 1: With RS facing, attach green with a sl st over end st of first row to the left of
back seam, ch 1, 2 sc over same st, [2 sc over end st of next row] rep around, join in
beg sc. (20 sc).
Rnd 2: Ch 4 (counts as first dc, ch-1), [sk next sc, dc in next sc, ch 1] rep around, join
in 3rd ch of beg ch-4. (10 ch-1 sps).
Rnd 3: Sl st in first ch-1 sp, ch 1, beg in same sp, [sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc] in each ch-1
sp around, join in beg sc, fasten off.
Tie: (make 2):
With red, ch 75, fasten off. Weave tie through ch-1 sps on rnd 2 of cuff.
Wrap green yarn 50 times around cardboard. Slip yarn off cardboard, tie piece of
green yarn around center and knot tightly. Cut open lps at each end. Trim and shape
to form pompom.
Finishing: With tapestry needle and 6” end at beg of rnd 1, bring tip of toe up and
tack in place over center of rnd 7. Sew pompom at tip of toe.
