this decorative piece

Project excerpted from Quick and Easy Pillows and Cushions.

This sumptuous woven-ribbon pillow works on the simple principle of basket weaving. Seven different shades of velvet ribbon are cut into equal lengths and woven across the surface of the pillow. This idea can be adapted using just two colors for a checkerboard design or even just one color to create a textural effect.
You will need
5⁄8 yd. (50cm) of velvet fabric, 45 in. (115cm) wide
5⁄8 yd. (50cm) of thin interlining fabric
Seven different colors of velvet ribbon, 1 in. (2.5cm) wide, with a total length of 20 yd. (18m)
2 1⁄4 yd. (2m) of velvet piping
Four tassels 18 in. (45cm) square pillow 14 in. (35cm) zipper
